MA Degree Show
The work focuses on the collision between materials and processes of making - building, dismantling, rebuilding, collapsing and removal. I am drawn towards industrial materials - concrete, cardboard, aluminium, polyurethane foam - setting up a push/pull tension between them that settles into a sense of impermanence. A rigorous process (I recently set myself a task of making a work a day) works alongside a sense of play and open-ended experimentation, allowing the materials to have their say. The end result is a referent to unconscious memories, of Yorkshire, of being a child and of the farm.
