A R T + W O R K
In this exhibition Carole Pearson has recorded a gas illumination burning at night-time. The chosen piece is a slightly damaged part of a much larger spectacle made for the celebration of Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee in 1896. She has re-hung a selection of the gas illuminations from the museum’s collection and made a new illumination, in which the original iron pipes are reinvented and lit with LED lights.
